Go Fit has invested more than 20 million euros in its latest project: a 22,000 square metre sports and wellness centre in Tenerife, located next to the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.

This is the Iberian operator's second centre in the Canary Islands, following its opening in Las Palmas in 2015. With this new complex, Go Fit now has 21 centres in operation and plans to expand into Italy this year.

The company is focusing its expansion on strategic European cities, looking for projects where it can partner with local authorities on collaborative initiatives that serve communities, foster social cohesion and contribute to urban regeneration.

Go Fit Santa Cruz will operate under a 40-year public-private partnership model with the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.

Facilities include:

  • Three pools: one for training, one for learning and one for hydrotherapy.
  • A 1,700 square metre gymnasium.
  • Four studios for directed activities.
  • A sports pavilion.
  • Tennis and paddle tennis courts.
  • A spa with thermal circuit and sauna.
  • A children's centre.

Sustainability is a key focus: the building is virtually carbon neutral, using no natural gas and offsetting residual emissions.

The centre is expected to serve more than 12,000 users, who will have access to a personalised wellness experience through the so-called Go Fit Method. This method includes initial assessment, diagnosis, personalised training plans and ongoing individual support, all managed through the Go Fit app.

Mario BarbosaGo Fit's CEO, Go Fit, said:

"This flagship opening underlines Go Fit's commitment to sustainable urban wellbeing: to offer emission-neutral operating models within premium, inclusive and accessible infrastructure for all.

The project will boost urban regeneration, positioning sport as a pillar of well-being and social cohesion, and as a driver of recovery for undervalued urban areas.

Go Fit Santa Cruz Tenerife sets a model for future civic wellness centres: where quality user experience, climate responsibility and cost-effective design intersect".

José Manuel BermúdezMayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, celebrated the opening with these words:

"Today we are completing one of the great projects that Santa Cruz has been waiting for years: the largest sports complex in the history of the city.

A wide-ranging space for opportunity, health, active life and, above all, community and coexistence.

We are inaugurating the largest sports facility in Santa Cruz, what I have called from the very beginning a "sports centre". health factorya project for which many people and institutions have been rowing together, against all odds, since 2017".
