Charo Reina gives voice to a more conscious Christmas: emotional wellbeing and #StopEdadism

Published on

This Christmas, ASISPA invites us to look at welfare from a broader and more necessary perspective: that of the accompaniment, emotional health and the fight against ageism. A cause that takes on special meaning at this time of the year and that finds in Charo Reina, artist and ambassador of the movement #StopEdadism, a close, sensitive and deeply committed voice.

Ageism - discrimination on the basis of age - is not just a social issue: it has a direct impact on the emotional health, psychological well-being and quality of life of older people. Unwanted loneliness, feelings of invisibility or loss of purpose are especially intensified during Christmas, a period that should be synonymous with connection and care.

Aware of this, ASISPA reinforces its commitment to active ageing and emotional wellbeing through the initiative Face-to-Face: Conversations with Charo Reina, an audiovisual space of the #StopEdadismo movement where words, listening and shared experience become tools for health.

In this intimate and close format, Charo Reina talks to people from the fields of culture, journalism, science and activism, addressing without filters how ageism crosses our society and how it can be transformed through empathy, awareness and respect. Voices such as Rosa Benito, Marta Valverde and Mónica Bardem have already participated by sharing personal reflections on age, stereotypes and the passage of time.

Numerous studies agree that the social and emotional accompaniment is a key factor in preventing depression, isolation and cognitive decline. That is why initiatives like this not only raise awareness, but also care: they create spaces for recognition, validation and human connection.

A voice with soul and commitment

Charo Reina's participation brings an essential emotional value to this initiative. Beyond her artistic career, her social involvement and her defence of the dignity of the elderly make her an inspirational figure in the field of welfare. Her sensitivity and closeness facilitate conversations that do not seek to give lessons, but rather to generate awareness and real change.

ASISPA reminds us that combating ageism is a collective task and a direct investment in physical and mental health. For this reason, during these dates, they intensify their actions of accompaniment, dialogue and awareness-raising, committed to a fairer, more inclusive society that is aware that wellbeing has no age.
