Personalised treatments, Signature rituals, cutting-edge skincare, fitness, meditation, yoga and a programme developed alongside PANGAIA Wellness Club are all part of an offering that also opens its doors to the general public
In the hotel OKU Andalusia, the surroundings shape the guest's experience before their stay even begins. The vegetation and that sound of the sea drifting in from the beach are reflected in the vibration of its wellness centre. In a sector that devotes an ever-growing amount of resources to creating sensory experiences, it is significant to find a place where much of the experience is defined by nature, in all its forms and variations.
Set in La Alcaidesa, in an elevated position above the Cádiz coastline, with the Mediterranean just a few steps away and views stretching towards Africa. From some of its terraces you can hear the breaking of the waves, and all around, particularly lush vegetation blends olive trees, rosemary, banana trees and other plants that surround the outdoor spaces and accompany the paths towards the wellness areas.

The spa occupies 2,000 square metres and features an indoor saltwater pool, two saunas, a steam room, emotional showers, relaxation areas, a meditation courtyard, treatment rooms and two gyms. The fitness area is laid out across two distinct environments: one dedicated to cardiovascular work and facing the gardens, and another for strength and functional training. The sports complex adds three tennis courts, two padel courts and a multi-sport court.

The interior architecture maintains a direct relationship with that landscape. Dark woods, natural fibres, wicker, stone and fabrics create an atmosphere reminiscent of grand Balinese villas, yet adapted to the light and character of Andalusia. The effect comes from a restrained, uncluttered, highly organic décor. Light, shadows, views and materials do most of the work.
The architectural project for the transformation of OKU Andalusia is by dAAR Arquitectura, based in Madrid. The studio worked on the former Aldiana Club Costa del Sol resort and approached the intervention as a comprehensive renovation encompassing architecture, interior design, urban planning, gardens, spa, gym and common areas. The interior design is attributed in the HD Awards to the in-house design team at OKU Hotels, based in London.
The relationship between architecture and landscape is especially evident in the wellness area. dAAR's intervention opened up views towards the sea and reorganised various spaces of the former complex, while OKU's design maintains a material continuity between interior and exterior. The result aligns with the identity the chain has developed across its different hotels, with the local territory as one of the main elements of each project.

Access to the spa also has a practical particularity that is especially relevant to the local public: there is no need to cross the resort to reach it. The wellness area has its own independent entrance, so someone coming from outside can access the spa directly. To continue the visit with a meal or something casual, you then need to enter the hotel premises and head to its dining spaces.
This autonomy reinforces the spa's relationship with the local market. OKU Andalusia has created a monthly membership and a seasonal one that allow recurrent use of the gym and spa facilities. The monthly one includes full access, discounts on treatments and personal training, towels, amenities and changing rooms with lockers. The seasonal one adds a spa treatment per month and extends the discounts.
The idea is especially interesting in a destination like the Costa del Sol, accustomed to the club model and to an international resident population that regularly uses fitness, sports and wellness services. The spa can thus function as part of the daily life of those who live nearby, while maintaining its role within the hotel experience.

The treatment offering currently draws on two brands with very different profiles: Subtle Energies y Biologique Recherche.
Subtle Energies brings the Ayurvedic and holistic side, with natural formulations and protocols inspired by Ayurvedic tradition. Biologique Recherche introduces a more technically oriented treatment skincare and protocols specifically tailored to the skin's needs. OKU explains this combination as the union of Ayurvedic techniques and high-performance skin care treatments.
The difference between the two lines makes it possible to work on body, face and rituals from different approaches, something that aligns with one of the spa's most interesting characteristics: the possibility of combining treatments depending on the person and the moment.
The massage menu begins with the Relaxation Massage, based on slow, rhythmic movements; it continues with the Deep Tissue, aimed at working deep muscular tension, and the Personalised Massage, especially indicated for active people and adaptable to the muscle groups that need greater attention. It also includes Reflexology, Pregnancy Massage for the second and third trimester and a Family Duo Massage, designed for two people.
The personalised massage takes on a particular role here. The menu itself presents it as a treatment that can be used before or after physical activity, with attention to flexibility, muscle tension, circulation and recovery. A conversation with the therapist allows you to decide the type of work based on what the guest needs at that moment, rather than limiting the session to a closed protocol.

The most recognisable part of the offering is in the OKU Rituals.
The OKU Andalusia Signature Body & Face Ritual, lasting two hours, combines therapeutic aromas, myofascial techniques, facial massage and joint mobilizations. The session is individually tailored and works on both body and face within a single treatment.
The Andalusian Ayurvedic Ritual, lasting 90 minutes, incorporates Ayurvedic techniques, breathing and continuous bodywork aimed at promoting relaxation and recovery. The Head Massage Ritual, lasting one hour, focuses the experience on the head and scalp using Ayurvedic oils. These are three different treatments, although they share the same idea: the therapist has room to adapt the experience to the person in front of them.
Among the body treatments from Subtle Energies is the Rasayana Detox Body Wrap, which begins with an exfoliation of essential oils, cinnamon and walnut shell and continues with a mineral clay wrap enriched with ginger, spirulina and green tea.

The Walnut & Cinnamon Body Scrub combines deep exfoliation and bodywork techniques, while Sleep Well, Awaken Well, lasting two hours, is designed as a treatment adaptable to jet lag and sleep disturbances. It incorporates marma work, lymphatic techniques and a bronze bowl technique called kasa. The session can be oriented toward relaxation or toward a feeling of activation, depending on the desired goal.
In facial treatments, the menu is divided between Subtle Energies treatments and the protocols of Biologique Recherche.
Subtle Energies proposes the Advanced Biotech Lifting Facial, which combines vegan collagen, vitamin C from Kakadu plum, probiotic actives and multimolecular hyaluronic acid with marma massage techniques and lifting and contouring work.
The 24K Gold Age-Defying Facial uses actives associated with collagen and elastin stimulation, as well as mogra, jasmine and 24-karat gold. The Soothe & Repair Facial is aimed at skin subjected to inflammation, heat, sun exposure or environmental stress, with botanical actives, lipids and massage techniques designed to restore comfort and barrier function.
The Biologique Recherche line incorporates three distinct treatments. The Treatment Lift CVS, lasting 90 minutes, combines exfoliation and lifting techniques; the Personalised Facial uses the brand's methodology to adapt the treatment to dehydration, sensitivity, pigmentation or loss of tone; and the Illuminating Facial is designed to improve luminosity and tone, especially before a special occasion.
The menu allows certain elements to be added to the main treatments: multimolecular hyaluronic acid serum, vegan collagen serum, pomegranate enzyme mask, lifting and contouring facial massage and Rasayana body exfoliation. These are small modules that allow a session to be modified without completely changing the protocol.
In a space of these characteristics, the design can attract the first visit, although it is the team who determines the experience that remains afterwards. Dejana, Spa Manager at OKU Andalusia, and her team are an important part of that equation. The impression conveyed by the service is that of an attentive, available and professional team, with a way of accompanying the client that avoids both excessively formal distance and out-of-place familiarity.

The attention begins before the treatment, with a conversation about the client's needs. OKU also establishes a prior questionnaire about health conditions and medication to determine whether there are circumstances that require precautions or medical authorization before performing certain treatments. It is an operational detail that deserves attention in a sector where personalization is often used as a commercial argument without always having a process behind it.
Here personalization has a fairly concrete translation: choosing between different techniques, working on specific areas, combining proposals or deciding whether a session should be oriented towards recovery, relaxation or activation.
Leaving the building, you access the wellness gardens, a collection of outdoor spaces that includes the vegetable garden, a pergola for activities and workshops and an open-air yoga shala. The garden of the Chef's Garden also has a gastronomic function: products used by the restaurant are grown there.
The path from the vegetable garden leads towards the morning yoga space. It is a simple connection, yet it sums up well the way OKU has approached wellness: the same vegetation that forms part of the resort's landscape provides ingredients for the kitchen and accompanies the path towards a movement session.
The weekly programming incorporates different yoga practices, meditation and wellness activities. In summer 2026, the collaboration with PANGAIA Wellness Club added yoga, Pilates and sound healing, along with a small program of intention rituals and The Nourishment Bar, with juices and smoothies created to accompany the sessions.

OKU's regular program also includes offerings such as meditation, movement practices and creative activities. The brand presents these gardens as an extension of the spa and as a place to develop part of the outdoor wellness programming.
The possibility of booking a private session of yoga, meditation or personal training further broadens the range. All three options form part of the Fitness & Mindfulness menu and can be integrated with spa access. OKU even offers an experience called Spa & Serenity Escape, which combines a personalized 60-minute massage, access to the spa facilities and a private session of personal training, yoga or meditation.
The current menu also includes two experiences of a more spiritual nature, Astrology Coaching y Akashic Records, both individual 75-minute sessions. Their presence within the menu introduces a different dimension compared to the cosmetic, body or sports side of the spa and reflects the breadth with which OKU currently interprets the concept of wellness.
The whole allows for very different days to be configured. A guest can train in the morning, walk through the Chef's Garden to the shala, practice yoga, use the thermal area and finish with a Biologique Recherche facial. Another can opt for a personalized massage and a meditation session. For someone arriving after a flight, Sleep Well, Awaken Well can be combined with muscle recovery or a brief compression session.
For the local client, the approach is even more interesting. They can use the gym and spa with a membership, book a specific treatment or join certain activities without needing to stay at the hotel. The spa's independent access also makes it easier for the visit to be made autonomously with respect to the rest of the resort.
