Malaga will become the epicentre of Clinical Nutrition thanks to the celebration of the 40th Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SENPE), which will be held in the city of Malaga. will take place from 23 to 25 April<\/strong> at the Palacio de Congresos in Malaga. Under the presidency of the Dr. Gabriel Olveira<\/strong>Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Regional Hospital of Malaga and Professor of Medicine at the University of Malaga, this event promises to offer innovative content related to clinical nutrition to the more than a thousand health professionals interested in the exciting field of clinical nutrition.

As for the profile of the attendees, the president of the Congress states: \"Any health professional who is interested in promoting knowledge of clinical nutrition, from what would be diet therapy applied to patients to the most complex, such as parenteral nutrition at home, is invited to this multidisciplinary meeting with Clinical Nutrition\". Among others, doctors from different specialities, nurses, dieticians, bromatologists, pharmacists, food technologists, etc. will be attending.

Advances and new perspectives in clinical nutrition<\/strong>

With a programme full of novelties and disruptive content, the Congress will kick off with an inaugural session that will be a nod to Malaga's gastronomy. During the conference Lidia Cabello <\/strong>(professor at the University of Malaga) together with the chef <\/strong>Jos\u00e9<\/strong> Dami\u00e1n Partido Ruiz,<\/strong><\/a> chef of the Parador de Antequera, will carry out a showcoking<\/em>The experience becomes a journey through the gastronomic history of Malaga through the analysis of dishes and recipes, including elaborations based on archaeological data from Iberian and Phoenician sites.

On the other hand, the event will also address issues such as the relationship between environmental pollution, climate change and nutrition, the advances in morphofunctional nutritional assessment<\/strong>the Chronobiology <\/strong>in medical nutritional therapy or the application of the Generative AI in clinical nutrition<\/strong>.

The haematopoietic cell transplant patient <\/strong>will also have a prominent place at the Congress, as this multidisciplinary round table will study, based on a clinical case, the screening, diagnosis and medical nutritional treatment to prevent disease-related malnutrition in people undergoing haematopoietic cell transplantation.

In addition, new developments in the approach to the eating disorders<\/strong>and an evaluation of the impact of medical nutrition therapy in terms of cost-effectiveness, survival and quality of life will be carried out. Not forgetting the Sixteenth Jes\u00fas Culebras Lesson: Development of eating habits in children, given by Dr. Jos\u00e9 Manuel Moreno Villares<\/strong>which will analyse sensory and cultural factors in the construction of healthy eating patterns in childhood.

During the Congress the following will also be signed the Malaga Declaration<\/strong>a manifesto on the commitment to promote the assessment of body composition (muscle mass and fat mass), integrating morphofunctional assessment within a complete nutritional assessment, as an essential tool in the clinical nutrition and dietetics care process.

It should also be added that once again this year SENPE is committed to the new generations <\/strong>with the table dedicated to showcasing the most innovative clinical nutrition research projects by young researchers under the age of 40 working with SENPE members, both in the clinical and academic fields.

Clinical nutrition takes to the streets<\/strong>

\"One of the objectives in the fight against Disease-Related Malnutrition (DRE) is to make a good morphofunctional assessment, so we are going to set up a tent during the congress days, so that citizens can have a body composition and know how important it is to analyse their muscle health. In fact, body composition is a cross-cutting theme of the congress,\" explains the Dr. Gabriel Olveira<\/strong>.

In the same way, there will be a photographic exhibition <\/strong>open to the public in the centre of Malaga, in Alcazabilla street, with the aim of making the importance and multidisciplinary nature of clinical nutrition visible through the eyes of SENPE members.
